Project: Redshift
Creating a unique gameplay experience means taking risks and trying new things. The Luna engine custom built to power redshift allows for easy prototyping and testing. Multiple canvas layers in the engine, background, map, and heads up display all communicate with each other, allowing the player to gain pop-up HUD information for game objects. The background camera moves at a different rate than the map camera, creating a sense of depth and parallax in the void of space. Each asteroid is layered using texture, color, clipping and shading masks, meaning no two battlefields will be alike.
